Mission of the Blog
I am a second year undergraduate at a prominent university. My objectives are as follows:
1) Obtain Bachelor of Arts in any field.
2) Enter medical school.
3) Complete residency and fellowship.
4) Open a private psychiatry practice.
I have no illusions about keeping this blog active for the duration of my medical career, but I hope that while the blog is active, you, the reader, will gain some small insight into the process of becoming a psychiatrist, or, should I fail in my endeavour, at least learn from my mistakes.
My reasons for pursuing this career will hopefully become apparent over the next few weeks or months. You should expect updates every week or so in which I will discuss my experiences with psychiatric patients with whom I have contact, as well as my own studies of the field. Your comments on my writing will motivate me to keep the blog active, hopefully for years to come. You may notice that references to the people I work with are somewhat awkward. In the interest of privacy and HIPAA compliance I have omitted as much patient identifying information as possible, including references to gender. If I discover that references to gender are compliant with HIPAA rules, the posts will become much more legible.
